This is Emmy Noether. I’ve just recently read about her, but due to the fact that she’s an understated mathematician and has contributed in the field of physics, I found her very inspiring (as I am as well, fascinated with the aforementioned fields).
She started out studying English, French and piano (as expected of girls in her time), but she soon turned her interests in Math. Being barred from matriculating formally at the University of Erlangen didn’t dissuade this lady badass from pursuing her goal, instead she audited all the courses, and she ended up acing her final exams that she was granted the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree. She went further and went to graduate school at the University of Göttingen, where she earned her doctorate summa cum laude. She sought to have a proper teaching position in the university which wasn’t generally approved by the administration, thus ended up hiring her as a “guest lecturer”. Despite her meager post, she continued her passion for mathematical invariance—teaching female students and even coming up with her own theorem (name after herself).
